As a partner at The Potts Law Firm, Matthew Tabakman uses his litigation experience to pursue property insurance and personal injury claims on behalf of his clients. Having practiced law in Central Florida since 2002, Matt has handled these types of cases from the time they are pre-suit claims, through the litigation process to negotiated settlement or jury verdict.
Matt studied political science at the State University of New York at Binghamton and international affairs at The George Washington University before pursuing his Juris Doctorate at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. While in law school, he participated in competitions as part of the nationally recognized Moot Court Team and served as law clerk to the Honorable Walter Komanski of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Orlando.
Since attaining his license to practice in 2002, Matt has worked for regional and statewide law firms, where he successfully defended cases involving personal injury claims, professional liability and medical licensure cases, and first-party property insurance suits. In these roles, he gained valuable experience working with some of the largest insurance carriers in the nation. He is happy to utilize that experience on behalf of individuals and businesses that have been harmed by others.
Matt Tabakman is a member of the American Bar Association, the National LGBT Bar Association (an affiliate of the ABA), and he has served as a Board Member of the Florida Association of LGBT Lawyers and Allies and the Central Florida Gay and Lesbian Law Association (both voluntary bar associations of The Florida Bar). Matt is licensed to practice law in Florida, New York, the District of Columbia, as well as the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Middle District of Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
