Building and running a successful business can be one of the most rewarding endeavors one can choose to undertake. However, today’s legal and regulatory climate can present serious challenges that can impair or even derail an otherwise prosperous enterprise. With so many instances of employees accusing employers of discrimination and wage and hour violations, rival businesses unfairly competing with one another, consumers and regulators complaining of deceptive advertising and trade practices, and even business owners feuding amongst themselves, it is no longer enough to rely on business acumen and common sense to protect a business from exposure to legal liability.
Michael Semanie dedicates his practice to helping businesses and entrepreneurs navigate through this increasingly litigious and complex modern business landscape. With a focus on delivering solutions tailored to meet his clients’ business objectives, Michael advises and zealously advocates on behalf of businesses facing issues related to advertising compliance, competition amongst businesses, consumer protection claims, corporate governance matters, and a variety of employment law issues. Prior to beginning his legal practice, Michael spent several years in the marketing and advertising industry and he regularly utilizes that business experience to develop creative and cost-effective solutions to his clients’ legal challenges.
Michael is experienced in litigating a broad range of legal issues and is admitted to practice in all Federal and State Courts in Florida. In addition to prosecuting and defending lawsuits, Michael frequently represents his clients in arbitration and mediation, as well as in informal business negotiations.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree concentrating in Economics and Psychology from the University of South Florida, Michael earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Stetson University School of Business Administration, where he was inducted as a lifetime member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honors Society. Michael earned his Juris Doctor degree with honors from Stetson University College of Law, where he served as an In-House Counsel Intern for the Home Shopping Network, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSNI), was recognized with a Certificate of Leadership, and was inducted as a lifetime member in the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity.
Born in suburban Detroit, Michael grew up on the West Coast of Florida. In his spare time, Michael enjoys fishing, various shooting sports, enjoying the outdoors, and reading about military history and strategy.
