Over the hill, should retire

Hired Steve to represent me in a divorce. He accomplished absolutely nothing. Gave my ex everything she wanted. He was afraid to face her or her attorney.

This man, unfortunately, has serious mental health issues, and in psychiatric counseling, .He failed to take my advice on the proper course of action in his divorce case. He consistently pushed me to settle his case, against my advice without conducting additional discovery that was sorely needed to prove his wife's financial transgressions. Against my advice, mediation was conducted without the proper proof to establish her transgressions. He threatened suicide if the case was not settled immediately. He received competent representation at mediation January 2019, resulting in his reviewing, understanding and signing a Settlement Agreement. Soon thereafter, a final judgment was entered. Later he learned of his former wife's lifestyle and he became unhinged. In March 2021 he sent me outrageous, ludicrous text messages. Immediately I called him in an attempt to correct his bad memory, but he continued to spew nonsense. At that time I learned that he had slandered my good name. In April 2021, in an attempt to correct his bad memory, I sent him a seven-page letter describing the details of my representation. A few days later he called me and stated that upon receiving my letter he realized that he had made a lot of horrible decisions in his case. I explained to him the law of slander. I have not sued him because of his mental health deficiency. Instead, I asked him for a letter of apology. A few days later I received a written apology. I assumed that the matter was concluded but today August 16, 2021 when reviewing my Avvo profile, I noticed his blatantly inaccurate review posted February 3, 2021. During my conversations with him, March and April this year he did not divulge that he had written this false review.

2nd worst attorney I have ever hired.

Hired Steve for representation, in my opinion he basically was not due diligent in his efforts. As a result I wound up with a bad plea deal and a lot of misrepresentation. He also wanted to trade services and we did but he never refunded me the money he initially took. Look when you need an attorn...ey perhaps for the most important time of your life you need an aggressive attorney who will fight for you every step of the way. I am sorry to say Steve Birr is not that kind of attorney. You will mostly find yourself taking a plea deal due to the lack of confidence Steve instills.

As I now read this anonymous review I suspect this concerns a case which actually occurred over 10 years ago. I'm sorry our client was disappointed with their experience with my firm. A brief explanation is long overdue but nonetheless necessary. It has been my practice to keep our clients well informed throughout their case and relay the results of my research, investigation, and plea negotiations to them. And most importantly before we go before the judge, I fully explain all options available to our client, which may include a plea or trial. After our client fully understands their options, a carefully thought out joint decision is made, the goal of which is a resolution intended to be in our client's best interest given all the circumstances. I believe we accomplished our goal in this case. Thank You. Steve Birr

Very thorough, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to

Steve expressed a genuine interest in my DCF dependency case from the moment I spoke with him on the phone. He is always punctual and stays in communication. He has been a sincere advocate for my nephew, his children and myself throughout this process.
