Dear Anna, I've been trying to find the right words for a while now, and I'm not sure they fully exist — but I have to try, because whoever is reading this deserve to hear this. When my partner was taken into ICE detention, our world stopped. Our children were confused and hurting, I was runnin...g on fear and exhaustion, fighting for his life and his freedom, the case in front of us looked nearly impossible. Most people would have looked at what we were up against and walked away. You didn't. You took us on. You fought for us. And because of you, my partner is home. I want you to know what that means. It means our child falls asleep with their parents under the same roof again. It means I reach over in the morning and they're there. It still doesn't feel real — we're still processing it, still catching ourselves in moments of disbelief that we actually made it through. But we did. And that is because of you.
