Do Not Trust This Man

In short he is a vulture that apparently likes to take people's money when they are/were already struggling. He apparently thinks he is someone special in that he can judge them for being in default when most people do not just stop paying on a house they have paid a note on for more than 12 years u...nless there is a reason. I have medical issues that caused our default and after trying to work with the mortgage company we had no choice but to hire an attorney. He was recommended by the service officer serving our forclosure notice. I am convinced he pays him to recommend him since he stated he was the "only one that could help us" because all of the "other attorneys are working with the mortgage companies". There is no communication, he does exactly as all of the other reviews state he does. He takes people's money and does absolutely nothing for them. We paid him for three years all the while assuming that he was doing work on our case to help us. In the end he gave our house to the mortgage company and has not sent paperwork or emails as requested or as he stated he would.

Review

We payed this lawyer for about 4 years to help with our foreclosure. At initial meeting he seemed so in tune with what we needed done. Never once called us to update about what was going on, kept us in the dark. Only filed one thing on the foreclosure and it wasn't even what we discussed doing. Calle...d us and said we had 24 hours to give him 2500.00. Wouldn't tell us why he needed it. Used scare tactics, berated us and treated us like we were nothing. When we said we didn't have the money he actually suggested we got to AL and get a car title loan!! Told us he was going to garnish our wages if we didn't give him the money in 24 hours. When we told him we didn't have it he just cut off all communication and the next day one of his associates left a message that they had settled with our mortgage company. We were supposed to be in some program, but have received nothing from Mr. Wilhelm or his law firm in regards to anything. We contacted the mortgage co. to ask about finalization and the program and they said all correspondence is going to your lawyer. Contacted Mr. Wilhelm office and have still never heard anything. So we are going through foreclosure but totally lost and confused because Mr. Wilhelm is still getting all of the info and not passing it on!! He also told use we owned him money (he quit giving receipts about a year in to us paying him) but when we figured it all up we had actually given him more money than we should have. This is a condensed version of all that he did (or should we say didn't do). He promised to save our home but never did anything to save it and then accepted a deal and hasn't communicated with us since. Absolutely the worst lawyer/attorney ever. If you want to save your home just file bankruptcy, something Mr. Wilhelm could have told us to do instead of suggesting a car title loan. He and his associates are the most arrogant, rude, condescending people I have ever met. They do not work for their clients but for their own personal gain. Please find someone else to represent you, you will be much better off.

review

Greg Wilhelm agreed to handle my foreclosure defense.I originally filed my own Affirmative Defense and went to him to back them with case law and with a counter suit intentions. His fees were to be $20,000 PLUS because of the complexity of the case I agreed with $2000 down and $795.00 per month. Almo...st a year into case and $7,565.00 collected his "scope of work changed" and no longer involved my original 26 Affirmative Defenses he changed them to his liking and instead of the counter suit I was paying him for he made it a basic Fannie Mae Defense which per him was "an extra ordinary event!" With his changing of this the scope of work had changed tremendously to a basic $2999.95 Paint Job. He NEVER brought this to my attention but kept cashing checks like everything was the SAME. When I finally understood and realized this I questioned him after our 1st court date his response became pompous arrogant and further made it clear that he could change this and accelerate this case so quickly and so fast that I would make a determination. WOW I question him about an accountability and he TREATENS to accelerate my case AGAINST ME? That followed with me not meeting his demands because he refused to respond to my accountability of hours logged into my defense. He filed to leave as Attorney of Record less than 12 days before my awaiting court appearance. Not only did I loose a Motion for Continuance I lost my case because the Honorable Judge ruled it was not a Fannie Mae Loan so he never even read my loan Doc's to file his Motion for if he had READ them he would of never filed as a Fannie Mae loan for goodness sake. All this for about $12,500!!!

terrible lawyer

This guy was a nightmare. He promised legal services to save my house from foreclosure, but provided no assistance at a cost of almost 1000.00 per month. He took two weeks off for Christmas holidays and two weeks off during Mardi Gras, and did nothing in between the holidays for my payments. He... uses coercion tactics of rudeness and passive aggressiveness to ensure you pay his fees. The happiest day of my life was when I stopped paying his fees and applied and succeeded with my own loan modification. "Poor" is a high rating for him, only chosen as that is the lowest score available here

bad experience

Mr.Wilhelm was not an advocate for me. I invested 3,500.00 and received nothing in return except rudeness. I wanted to do a modification but he refused. He wanted me to continue to pay him 500.00 dollars a month until my house went into foreclosure. Seven months after I stopped paying him I am still ...in my home and I am beginning my modification. He did nothing for me except intimidate me into paying him.. I would not recommend his law firm, he is a bad man. The harp and hamp programs can help in the modification process, he told me my life was a disaster and stopped all service, I was happy about that since I no longer wanted to pay him 500.00 a month for nothing. Good bye Mr Wilhelm, thanks for the life lesson.
