I filed for divorce in 2013 and hired this attorney. She was ok-not great, but would show up for court late and also lost her paralegal due to "domestic violence issues" very suddenly and made lewd remarks on the fact that the paralegal was "missing" and was very harsh and seemingly careless about t...he situation that her paralegal may have been in. I found this incredibly unprofessional and immediately saw red flags. My children and I were also going through domestic violence at that time, which was not disclosed to her, but it should go without saying that a good, decent divorce attorney should be careful when it comes to certain subjects. At that time, I decided to reconcile, but she never even closed out my case and kept the rest of the retainer anyways! When I went to file for divorce again in 2016 (nearly 2 years later) is when i discovered that the first case was never closed. Being unfamiliar with the legal process (hence the reason why ppl hire attorneys in the first place) and suffering from a rare brain disease shortly after reconciling in 2014, I was even more disgusted by her professional ethics to have put me and my children in a situation where it appeared as though I had an open divorce for that long. To top it off, I recently requested my file from her, where she at first blew me off saying they are in storage-but as I kept pushing the issue- she has only given me emails of court records and an empty pdf, nothing more, all of which consisted of a few emails, with several of the same (duplicate) emails. She knows she did wrong and I dont usually ever write reviews about ppl/businesses...but in this case, when someone is dealing with your LIFE, the LIFE and FUTURE of your CHILDREN (who have already suffered so much), while taking thousands upon thousands of dollars, I have to speak up. I want to warn others from making the mistake of choosing/hiring this lawyer. I know lawyers dont have the best reputation, but there are some who truly do care and will have you and your childrens best interest at heart, while not grossly overcharging you.
