I reached out to Mr. Baldwin after speaking with a real estate broker with a property management portfolio, as well as two other local lawyers who deal with landlord/tenant disputes. Although my situation is not unique-- the landlady has kept some of my security deposit-- and lacks potential to "make... money", Mr. Baldwin pinpointed some aspects that the others hadn't informed me of.
