I went and did all the legwork and got all of the legal documentation to prove my husband's innocence he would not even read them he stated that it will not help when it proves in there his innocence he told my husband that he had to accept the deal that he was offering or he was going to prison chil...d abuse was the first charge I have all the reports stating that there was no findings of childabuse or neglect the three other charges were drug charges for a bag that was found in my husband's pants that belong to my son I have proof of that as well and he does not want to hear it he does not want to see itthe child abuse charge will be dismissed because as I said there are no findings his only deal to my husband was if he accepted for years probation and all of these fees and fines and everything that he would drop the child abuse charge the child abuse charges going to be dropped anyway so now what. My stepson has molested childrenand it has been reported no one has done anything to help because he is autistic he is labeled as the victim on every single case he knows right from wrong. I don't understand why they are doing this why he will not work for us when my husband is completely innocent of all charges .

I had him for a public defender and no matter whether your guilty or not he doesn't want to hear your side and don't want you to even talk.The first time you go to talk to him ,the DA and him has already got a plea for you to sign and he will tell you to either take the offer or go to prison and you'...ve never even opened your mouth so you're already been found guilty and sentenced the first time you meet.I think the bar should check him out cause the court want appoint nobody else even if you say there's a conflict of interest the judge says rusty Barrett has to say there's a conflict of interest.need to fire him

Although I've never had the "pleasure" of having Mr. Barrett as my "defense" -- every. single. person. I've come into contact with while doing some research has said he acts like the "pixie" reviewer says -- like he is on opposing counsel! HE WAS ON OPPOSING COUNSEL BEFORE BECOMING THE ONLY PUBLIC DE...FENDER IN HOLMES COUNTY. I encourage any prospective client to reach out to friends and family to see if they can get the accused a different attorney, he lied to my spouse about the time it would take to take his case to trial (which I found out much later in law school was COMPLETELY atrociously inaccurate). This man should resign before he's disbarred.

He acts and works like he is on the prosecution attorney's payroll. He did not care what my side of the story was concerning my arrest. He assumed that the police was correct and did not view the evidence against me. Flat out told me I was going to jail for two years for a second degree misdemeanor ... unless I agreed to the prosecuting atty's deal even though I assured him of my innocence.
