G.C. Murray, Jr. was born in Key West, FL and was raised in Miami, FL. He attended Florida International University, where he graduated cum laude in three years with his Bachelor of Arts in Humanities through the University’s Honors College in 2008. At FIU, he was a President’s Scholar and received the school’s most prestigious service award: the Excellence in Civic Engagement Medallion of Distinction. He earned his Juris Doctor from The Florida State University College of Law where he was a Mason Ladd Scholar, Calvin Patterson Civil Rights Scholar, and a distinguished Pro Bono Award winner. While at FSU Law, he was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, bestowed the title of Chief Justice Emeritus by the FSU Supreme Court, and was President of the Black Law Students Association which won National Chapter of the Year under his leadership.
Before joining FJA, G.C. operated his own law firm with four attorneys and three offices throughout Florida. G.C. is now FJA’s Deputy General Counsel and works with the legal, political, and legislative teams. His success and leadership have been recognized by his peers. Most recently, G.C. was selected as a Fellow for the inaugural Florida Bar Leadership Academy as well as Florida State’s “Thirty under 30” award. G.C. is a member of the Tallahassee Bar Association where he serves on the Board of Directors, the Tallahassee Barristers Association where he serves as the President-Elect, and the FSU Law Alumni Association where he serves on the Board of Directors and as Student Recruitment Chair.
Outside of the legal world, G.C. is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and serves on the Board of Directors for the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, and serves as President for the Innovative Community Engagement Foundation.
