Can a parent leave his/her children out his/her will? Can the will be contested even though it was never registered?.

Yes. Parent can leave out children.
You may be in bad shape if your mom had all assets held jointly or named husband as primary beneficiary...

No it is not correct. If you are a beneficiary of a will, you should be given the opportunity to see the will and be informed about the probate...
