I am a trial attorney and father of two wonderful children.

I believe that in our system of justice people have a fundamental right to competent legal representation, not just a paid advocate. Anything less than that, and our system of justice fails. Our firm regularly handles personal injury, criminal, and family law matters, from inception to completion, whether that be settlement or trial. My partner/brother and I have over 30 years of combined legal experience both in and out of court, that can make all of the difference when it comes to a positive result for our clients. Cultivated Attorney

I recently hired David to represent me in a contested divorce case. I was impressed with his knowledge as well as his aggressive persistence. He fought for more than I was asking/expecting in mediation...And won! Thanks again! I would absolutely recommend David to my family and friends.

Great divorce lawyer

David went to bat for me and got me everything I asked for and more. I only wanted 50/50 with my daughter but he faught for my rights on support and separation of items. I went in blind and scared but came out happy.

Trustworthy and knowledgeable.

I have been a client of David’s for many years. He has helped me through a few tough situations. I have had nothing but positive experiences with David and his office. He has very fair and well explained billing practices. Never once have I felt nickel and dimed. He has always given me his honest legal opinion even when it’s tough to hear. His legal assistant is amazingly smart and is always willing to speak with me and answer any questions I may have. I feel safe. I feel like I’m in good hands. David cares about his clients. Highly Recommend

Mr. Makofka was everything I needed in an attorney and more! Extremely knowledgable and helpful. Very Professional

Top attorney in Jacksonville

I switched attorney's in the middle of a custody battle and hired David. My previous attorney was not aggressive enough and I was scared that I would not gain custody of my son. My son is the most important part of my life and I wanted someone who I thought understood the true importance of my sensitive case and who was tough enough and had enough experience to get the job done. After my fist meeting with David I could tell by his answers to my many questions and concerns that he knew what he was doing. My case was tough and took a long time to settle but I felt that he fought hard for me. In the end I was awarded the time I deserved and wanted with my son. I will always go back to David for any future needs and would recommend him to anyone who is in need of an aggressive and knowledgeable lawyer.

Difficult custody case with ex husband

I hired David in 2011 after firing my previous attorney for not being as "forward thinking" as I am. Since the first meeting with David, I knew he would be a bulldog in the courtroom, which is exactly what I needed. It was a long battle, but in the end, David got me the results I wanted. He answered every question I had and guided me through the process every step of the way. I have referred several people to David for divorces, child support, DUI's, you name it. If any legal issues arise in the future, I will only go back to David. He is exactly the attorney you need if you want someone who will tell it like it is - No nonsense. His staff is amazing, and I will always look back on my experience positively.
