Adam Urra was born in Westerly, Rhode Island; the second of three children born to Dennis, a Navy submariner, and Susan, a teacher. Adam graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2002 (double major in political science and philosophy, Notre Dame Scholar) and received his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 2005 after being awarded the first annual Michael Burke Memorial Scholarship.
Adam was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2005 and immediately took a position at the 4th Circuit State Attorney’s Office. During his four years at the office, he was named Outstanding Felony Attorney and received the Trial Award, awarded to the attorney who tried and won the most cases in one year. In 2009 Adam took a position at the 8th Circuit State Attorney’s Office where he was appointed the Division Chief of the Firearms Enforcement Division. Adam successfully tried over fifty felony cases dealing with the most egregious and violent offenders in the criminal justice system. Adam has also served on the Board of Trustees for the Reichert House, a community initiative aimed at providing services and stability for at risk youth. He was invited four times to be an instructor at the annual Prosecutor-Public Defender Clinic, a week long state wide conference in which prosecutors and defense attorneys gather to mentor new attorneys. For the last three years Adam has also been a coach for the Trial Team at the Florida Coastal School of Law.
Adam also volunteers his time on the Board of Directors for the Jacksonville Youth Crisis Center and is involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Florida.
In his spare time Adam enjoys travel, Crossfit, cooking, and spending time with his family and loved ones.
