Background: Mother, individually and as guardian ad litem for minor rape victim, brought claims for negligent hiring against residential security company, the company's authorized dealer, and dealer's ... parent company, alleging that dealer's employee raped the 14–year-old victim two months after he met her while making a sales call at her home. Mother died, and minor's aunt was substituted as plaintiff. The Superior Court, Pierce County, Sergio Armijo, J., granted summary judgment to defendants. Plaintiff appealed.
