A native of Ormond Beach, Mr. Shapiro is a proud graduate of Seabreeze High School. Mr. Shapiro received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Florida International University where he finished ranked in the top ten in his class. As a law student, he was an associate member of his school’s law review and had the honor of having his comment selected for publication. He also served as a teaching assistant for his law school’s legal research and writing program; was an intern at the Fifth District Court of Appeal; and was the recipient of book awards in Legal Research and Writing, Employment Law, and Estate Planning. Prior to law school, Mr. Shapiro attended Florida State University where he graduated with honors while majoring in History and Political Science.
At Rice Law Firm, Mr. Shapiro concentrates his practice on property litigation in order to help clients’ preserve and protect that which they have worked so hard to acquire. Although he handles a wide range of property matters, some of his most frequent cases pertain to condominium and homeowner associations, landlord/tenant relationships, foreclosure matters, and actions relating to obtaining clean title. In addition, Mr. Shapiro focuses on comprehensive estate planning including the drafting and execution of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills, and healthcare surrogates. Mr. Shapiro has been a guest speaker on several occasions including at an Economic Power Hour for the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce and a business development workshop presented by the Small Business Development Center.
Mr. Shapiro is an active member of the community serving on the Ormond Beach Neighborhood Improvement Advisory Board and acting as general counsel for the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce and general counsel for the Daytona Beach Young Professionals Group. In addition, he is a member of the Volusia County Bar Association where he serves as treasurer for the Young Lawyers Division, the Dunn Blount Chapter of the American Inns of Court, and a graduate of Ormond Beach Leadership IX and Daytona Beach Leadership XXXIII.
