William Alan Buchanan

Bill Buchanan was born in Columbus, Georgia on September 26, 1980, and has lived in Columbus for much of his life. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 2003, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Bill received his Juris Doctor degree from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 2007. While in law school at Mercer, Bill was Vice-President of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity for the 2005-2006 school year, and was Co-Chairman of that organization’s Rehberg Charity Golf Tournament in 2006.

Bill’s practice focuses on personal injury litigation. Before founding Bill Buchanan, LLC, Bill practiced with the general civil litigation law firm of Buchanan & Land, LLP (also in Columbus) for nearly ten years. While at Buchanan & Land, LLP, Bill among other things defended a large insurance company’s insureds and represented injured Plaintiffs in personal injury cases.

This extensive experience on “both sides of the aisle” enabled him to develop a unique perspective and approach to personal injury cases. Bill’s legal experience encompasses a wide variety of areas including construction law, OSHA Regulations, medical malpractice, wrongful death, nursing home litigation, personal injury litigation (including motor vehicle accident and slip and fall cases), appeals of taxing authority assessments and valuations, landlord-tenant, class action cases, and appellate law practice. He also has experience with the alternative dispute resolution procedures of mediation and arbitration.

Bill is licensed to practice law in Georgia and is admitted to all State and Superior Courts of Georgia, the Court of Appeals of Georgia, Supreme Court of Georgia, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division, the Columbus Bar Association, the Columbus Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, the Columbus Georgia American Inn of Court, and the Georgia Legal History Foundation. He is a 2015 graduate of the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division’s Leadership Academy.
