Excellent Service

We recently were negotiating a commercial real estate transaction and needed help with the Letter of Intent and then the actual contract. We found that Doug and his team provided excellent service, quick responses and quality work. Even though we decided to pass on the transaction, the insight and in...formation we received from all of our interactions will be helpful for future opportunities!

The Best!

We engaged Doug to handle a delicate life estate deed matter. We couldn't be more pleased with the work he and his team did. The matter was completed to our fullest satisfaction. Doug's firm retains the kind of attorneys who pay attention, communicate effectively with their clients, try to do what yo...u ask them to, and follow up until it gets done. We were never left hanging; he was committed to expediting our case and keeping us informed. He and his team are also very nice, personable, and supportive. I would definitely hire Doug again if the need should ever arise.

acted as closing attorney for real estate purchase

At closing Mr. Silvis advised me, for the first time, that he was not only representing me, the buyer, but also represnting the seller. In what should have been a straight sale I was then informed that part of the property belonged to a non-profit church - which resulted in two separate transactions... for me. Complete surprise until I walked in for closing. I thought then and feel now that there was conflict of interest and that I should have been informed before closing with the time to select some other attorney to represent me!

My client was the Buyer. He had already signed a contract before seeing us, and been turned down by other local lawyers. He begged us to handle the transaction for him. The seller was represented by another local lawyer already. We did NOT represent both sides. The buyer who made the above comment was not only advised that I had previously represented the seller on one isolated unrelated transaction, but I suggested he retain and offered to refer him to another out of town lawyer because the Seller was so well known in our community that almost everyone knew or had represented him at one time or another. The Buyer begged me to represent him and knew that we even had to get a signed statement from the Seller's attorney that the Seller "waived" conflict of interest. The transaction was hotly negotiated and we recommended the Buyer walk away from the purchase when the Seller wouldn't renogiate his price, but the Buyer was convinced he would come out ahead by closing it, then blamed us when his new business didn't do as well as he had hoped. Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
