John Hall Kirbo

I am a Senior Attorney at Wiggam Law in Atlanta, Georgia, with a long history of successfully navigating complex tax disputes. My work has encompassed a wide range of tax matters, including audit representation, tax litigation, penalty abatement requests, innocent spouse claims, and collection issues. I also have extensive experience resolving numerous tax controversies involving Section 831(b) captive insurance companies, Section 170(h) conservation easements, as well as estate and gift valuations.

Prior to joining Wiggam Law, I served as Senior Counsel at Chamberlain Hrdlicka, where I handled federal tax cases as part of the firm’s Tax Controversy practice. I am a past president of the Dougherty Circuit Bar Association and previously volunteered each year as an instructor with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Adopt-A-Base program at the Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base, helping train service members to become return preparers before relocating my practice to Atlanta.

I earned my Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law, my Juris Doctor from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, and my Bachelor of Business Administration from Mercer University’s Stetson School of Business and Economics. I was named to The Albany Herald’s 40 Under 40 and recognized as a Georgia Rising Star by Super Lawyers for three consecutive years (2022–2024). I am admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court, various U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the Superior, Appeals, and Supreme Courts of Georgia.
