James A. Swindle

I grew up in Carrollton, Georgia where I attended the University of West Georgia. During my senior year of high school, I earned a college football scholarship to play for the West Georgia Wolves. High school and college football taught me work ethic, determination, and resilience.

In addition to playing football, the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity elected me as their President. During my presidency, I began to learn about negotiation tactics and leadership. I decided to attend law school after my college graduation. I enrolled in Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Cumberland School of Law prides itself on their trial advocacy training. Cumberland offers many mock trial and moot court opportunities to students.

The “Williams” Freshman Trial Competition is offered to all first-year students at Cumberland School of Law. My trial partner, Joy Baxter, and I advanced to the Final Four, and we defeated nearly 5 other teams throughout the competition. After participating in the Williams, I discovered my passion for trial advocacy and working in the courtroom. After graduation, I set my sights on a law license, and I began studying for the Georgia Bar Examination.

Once I passed the bar, I chose to move to Glynn County, Georgia. My grandmother, Betty Swindle, lived on Saint Simons Island for over 20 years, and we came to visit her regularly. Glynn County has quickly become my new home. I look forward to serving the citizens of Glynn County.
