Disappointed

I am an over the road truck driver and hired Ms. Grissom for 2 tickets I received and part Wentworth. One ticket I definitely deserved I was driving without my driver's license on my person I had fallen out of my bag in my personal car and I didn't realize it. The 2nd ticket I received was driv...ing in the left lane. Semis are supposed to be in the left lane. I feel Ms. Grissom didn't really fight for me. I have never in my life had a ticket. The following is what happen. Sargent Read put my truck down as being white. There is white lettering my truck the rest is solid black with chrome. He also stated there where no other commercial vehicles in site. There was a white commercial vehicles in front of me when he pulled me over. Second this comes from my GA Defensive Driving Course. The Traffic Safety Problem The Social Responsibilities of Driving Injury and death associated with traffic-related crashes are two of our largest societal problems. Drivers depend on each other to obey the rules and driving is also a very social task. Many drivers don't think of that as they get behind the wheel. Some drivers display a lack of courtesy. Courtesy is nothing more than showing respect for the rights and privileges of others using the roadway. It's simply a matter of displaying good manners while driving. It is our social responsibility to pay attention, avoid distractions, and demonstrate “due care.” For example, if we are obeying the rules and the other driver isn't, it is still our responsibility to avoid a collision if possible. So, if you see another vehicle running a red light and you can stop or maneuver to avoid hitting it, it is your responsibility to demonstrate "due care." If you see a pedestrian dash in front of you, it is your responsibility to try to avoid hitting the pedestrian. The concepts of defensive driving, for example “watching out for the other guy,” come into play in these types of driving scenarios. Practicing patience is also a must. Many drivers are racing to and from their jobs and other responsibilities in this “time-starved” world we share. It seems as though everyone is in a hurry and because we have more and more vehicles on our already congested roads, it is extremely difficult to exercise patience. A simple solution to avoid becoming impatient is to allow yourself more time for your trip. Leave early and recognize how to control your emotions. We will discuss more about emotions and other driving responsibilities later in the course. According to the course I just took, by moving over into the left lane to avoid getting hit by the pick-up truck pulling the camper that was coming over into me, I was demonstrating " Due Care " by avoiding an accident. I do this on a daily basis. ALWAYS!!!! This is why I have no tickets and have never had a accident. I don't feel Ms. Grissom pointed out these key points to the judge. And she let me down. When I hired her she said that she could take care of me. I have worked very hard for my license and because her heart wasn't in to this case i now have dings on it.

Lara, I am so sorry that you feel that I did not fight for you. In fact, I did point these issues out to the judge and he reduced both of your tickets to zero point violations. However, unfortunately, because you have a CDL license, the "ding" I believe you are speaking of is an industry standard, and I do not have any control over that. If there is something that I can help you rectify, I would be happy to do so if you give my office a call.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
