Completely rude - would never hire her for representation or to be an officiant

I called the recorder's court to see if they had any recommendations for an officiant for my wedding, and they recommended Judge Williams. When she finally called me back, one of the first things she said was she was "not sure" if she could officiate, but she would "make sure someone would be at my w...edding" [to officiate]. Because, apparently, she "doesn't know her schedule that far in advance." I understand that, but if I'm hiring you to do a service for me, you sure as hell better do it. Also, I don't think I'm being ridiculous in that I'd kind of like a guarantee that SOMEONE would be there to officiate my wedding. I told her I was calling around to different courts, like the magistrate court, to see if someone (a judge, what-have-you) could officiate, and she interrupted and said, "This isn't the magistrate court." I said that I knew that. When I asked about her rate, and she said a little over $200, I said very politely, "Honestly, I've been calling the courts, because I've heard that some judges will officiate for around $100 or less - would you say that that is incorrect?" and she scoffed at me, and said, "Not this one!" Then proceeded to YELL AT ME, telling me her time as a LAWYER was more valuable than that, blah blah blah. Lady. I am not hiring you to defend me in court. I would NEVER hire you to defend me in court, unless I wanted to lose the case. Please don't flatter yourself. I interrupted her, said, "Yeah, thanks, it's not going to work out." Why would I want you to officiate my wedding, when you turn to anger at the slightest provocation? And no, you know what? I didn't provoke you, I was perfectly nice to you up until you starting throwing a temper tantrum. I would take a hard look at your poor attitude, before you actually will accept less than highway robbery, because you DON'T HAVE ANY CLIENTS.

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
