One day I received a knock on the door. I opened the door and it was the sheriff. All I could do was think who's hurt. Then the sheriff served me with modification papers for child support stating for me to remove the kids from private school. Sale the house and give him the money. And pay him for it...ems he refused to get during a divorce 7 years prior. I searched around for lawyers until I found David Schachter. He was Everything I Needed. He read the Plaintiff's order I was Served and said it was a frivolous claim. After years in court and David Hard work and Dedication he proved that the Plaintiff claim was baseless with No merit and should Never made it to court. David was OUTSTANDING with my case. Initially, I thought it would be extremely hard to relocate out of state with a young child under the age of 3 and a husband, at the time, active duty military. I was very vulnerable and I was scared that my ex husband would try to get full custody or something cra...zy with my child, which I'm sure every mother fears. David walked me through the entire process. Every time I had questions or concerns, his office was ALWAYS there to answer them and I was also able to speak with him personally, which is very important to me. Many Attorney's avoid their clients, David, does not. He won't settle for less than what he can get you and he is a FIGHTER. Dealing with the military can be VERY tricky, also with regard to the child custody/ child support aspect. David was able to get me MORE than what I thought I was going to get with regard to child support, and the custody is the LEAST of my concerns now. He fought for exactly what I wanted from this divorce. I am thoroughly pleased with the amount of respect I received from David. Attorney's can be belittling, and David was the entire opposite. He also has a family, so he is very understanding as to how the whole "young children" thing works. He is VERY experienced, very knowledgeable, and he is a BULL. I would hope I never need him again for a divorce, but IF I did, I would highly recommend and re-hire this Attorney in a heart beat. He was able to assist me with my divorce settling in GA and myself residing in the state of MA since the separation. I thank David's entire office for their hard work and attentiveness to my case. A year ago, my attorney only had to take me as far as mediation in a child support modification case. A week ago, that same attorney was representing, defending and arguing for me in court against the Defendant for issues of contempt. Let me be clear, David came to my aid when I needed his help mont...hs after my case was finished. My son's father came up with every excuse and tried to find every loophole he could to break agreements that we all signed off on a year ago; the opposing attorney excused her client and his unnecessary nastiness. First and foremost, it should speak to the caliber and level of mastery an attorney has when he is always busy. Some attorneys have an abundance of time. David does not. He is busy, he is sought after and for very good reason - He is the best you will find. My ex-wife and I divorced in 2015. We l...ived in Virginia at the time of marriage and separation and she moved down to Georgia while pregnant with my twin boys. I still live in Virginia. As anyone can imagine, the scenario I just painted for you proves to be a very difficult situation. When I hired my divorce attorney here in Virginia to handle my divorce...it went terribly. I haven't asked for anything crazy, I haven't sought out to ruin my ex-wife's life...I simply want to be a father to my kids. That is all. David understands that. He takes what you say seriously. He is one of the few genuine attorneys out there that cares about his clients. He gives you the straight line. He doesn't sugar coat things and he doesn't give you false hopes. He will clearly define the requirements, what your options are and what he can do to maximize the options you have. And I will tell you this: When you are sitting in a mitigation room...across the table from your ex-wife and her attorney - there is no one else you want on your side of the table. I promise. David doesn't play around with your time or your money. His team, specifically Lisa, ensures that things get done in a timely manner. Keep in mind, David is a one man army...so sometimes that time frame isn't as quick as a major firm with 17 attorneys and 45 admin assistants - but what he lacks in work force he makes up for in follow-through and expertise. Unfortunately for me, I am going to need an attorney for the next 18 years. Fortunately for me, I have David as an attorney..so I am not worried about much.

David is hard working! He is smart, he is compassionate, and he balances a no-nonsense attitude with the patience needed to deal with an emotionally affected, hands-on client like me. I don't have 9+ years of interactions with family law - Meeting David was the first time an attorney didn't patroni...ze me and asked me what I needed/wanted in terms of child custody, visitation, and support rather than deciding those things for me. He advised me as to what was reasonable, what I needed to be prepared to compromise on, and I knew from the get-go I was willing to listen to him because I knew he was listening to me.
