Tom Allgood is a lifelong resident of the Augusta/Central Savannah River Area and licensed to practice law in both Georgia and South Carolina.
Like most lawyers, my practice is specialized. I typically represent good people whose lives are in turmoil. People who want answers and solutions to their problems. Problems caused by the negligence of another resulting in property damage or serious physical injury, or the stress of a divorce or other family crisis. I have many tools at my disposal to assist a client in need in finding a solution to his or her personal crisis. Helping others is what I enjoy most about the practice of law.
Personal Injury and Workers Compensation
Have you been injured in accident that was someone else's fault? Has a doctor's mistake caused long-term health issues? Have you been hurt by a defective product? Have you been injured on the job? Under state personal injury laws, you may be entitled to compensation if you are hurt as a result of another person or company's negligent, reckless or deliberate actions. I work with the victims of all kinds of accidents, including auto accidents, motorcycle crashes, truck crashes, boating accidents, plane crashes, workplace injuries and railroad accidents. You should also hire a personal injury attorney if you've been injured as a result of dental or medical malpractice, a defective product, nursing home abuse, a slip and fall accident on someone else's property or a dog bite. I can help you collect money to pay for medical expenses, temporary or permanent disability, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other injury-related expenses.
As a family law attorney, I can guide you through the many legal issues facing couples, parents and their children. I routinely work with individuals who are engaged or married to create pre-nuptial agreements and post-nuptial agreements. And I work daily with individuals who are getting divorced to negotiate a divorce agreement, including alimony, the division of property and debts, child custody, child support and visitation.
One of my specialties is “high asset” divorce cases. Such cases routinely involve division and disposition of real estate, pension and 401K accounts, alimony claims and claims for attorney fees. But I can assist a client with all kinds of family issues, such as child support, child custody, legitimation actions, paternity actions, custody modification actions and support modification actions.
I have been continuously engaged in the practice of law for more than 35 years. My qualifications as an expert in Family Law and Personal Injury are many and varied. Some of my achievements are: GEORGIA SUPER LAWYER since 2012; voted one of Georgia’s TOP ATTORNEYS by Atlanta Magazine in 2012; and rated “AV” by Martindale Hubbell for more than 10 years, which only about 15% of attorneys in the USA can claim.
