Sam Nicholson has established a strong reputation for dedicated, results-driven advocacy. He graduated from Vanderbilt University and earned his law degree from the Cumberland School of Law in 1978, where he served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association.
Continuing the legacy of his father, who practiced law in Augusta for over four decades starting in 1932, Sam has focused his legal career on representing clients with serious personal injuries caused by negligence. His efforts have resulted in multiple settlements worth millions of dollars.
Sam holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has consistently been recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer and one of the Top Attorneys in Georgia by Atlanta Magazine. He has also received accolades from the National Trial Lawyers Association.
Beyond his legal work, Sam is actively involved in his community and profession. He has served as the past president of the Augusta Bar Association, a member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Board of Governors, and a founding board member of the Augusta Bar Foundation. His public service includes roles as a Georgia State Representative, Chair of the State Ethics Commission, and leadership positions with various local educational, environmental, and cultural organizations.
In 2021, he was honored with the Robert L. Allgood Service Award for his long-standing commitment to the legal community and public service.
Currently, Sam lives in Augusta with his wife, Susan Eubanks Nicholson. They have three children and eight grandchildren.
