James Walter Moffitt

Absolutely reprehensible human being. Rude, belittling, dismissive, incompetent, disrespectful, arrogant man who will take your money and run. He is walking malpractice in human form who treats clients and employees like complete garbage and totally beneath him. He very obviously lacks any ability wh...atsoever to practice law solo, he doesn’t even bother to write up simple representation agreements (or any type of contract for that matter). He operates purely on a maxim of impropriety. Walter needs to be disbarred before more victims fall prey to his scams. Please do yourself a massive favor and hire literally anyone else.

Save your time and money, don't hire this joke of an attorney. I found out the hard way Why he insists on payment up front, because after he took my $5,000 he ignored me for as long as he could. It was over 3 months before he finally filed the first motion, after me telling him from the very beginnin...g that it was an Important and very urgent matter that needed to be tended to immediately, and him agreeing to it. He did not do what he told me he was going to do. He did not keep his word to me. He acted nice at first, leading me to believe we were on the same page as to how we were going to proceed with the case I was hiring him for, but as soon as I paid him he starts being very rude too. He's VERY slow at getting anything done, he has to be reminded over and over. He made numerous mistakes in my case, once even being called out about it in court by the judge himself. His numerous mistakes caused our case to end up being dragged out a lot longer than it should have been. If I would have hired the correct attorney to start with it would have saved me a LOT of time, inconvenience, and money. Dealing with Walter was a terrible experience that I don't wish on anybody else. He's not with his former partners anymore. He got his father to help him start over with trying to rebuild his reputation. For a while now he has been offering 'incentives' to clients in return for writing flattering reviews for him online. Beware.

I was cited for speeding in Rossville, and was referred to Mr. Moffitt. Moffitt quoted me a very reasonable fee and indicated that I would not be charged anything if he couldn't get me a better result than pleading guilty. This was important to me to keep my insurance rates from going up. I showed... up for court on my court date, and Mr. Moffitt was there on my behalf. He at first ensured that I had enough cash on me to pay the fine as is, and initially indicated that he thought he could at least cut it in half and keep the speeding ticket off my record. However, he said he was going to try and do even better, and he went to talk to the prosecutor. He came back a few minutes later, and told me to leave and that my case had been dismissed. I never expected this outcome, and it was well worth the time and money well spent. I highly recommend Mr. Moffitt as he is a straight shooter and is honest with what he thinks and expects.

didn't return calls and would not give me a contract of services and didn't bother to tell me I was going to prison until day of plea bargin. Said he assumed I knew.
