She Don't fight for you

I had got Melissa as my lawyer thru the courts she knew I was not at home they came in without paperwork and the police messed up on their paperwork and reports where nothing added up I don't feel she fought for me or tried to help me also in the plea she lied bout how things would go and what I'd ha...ve to pay and I ended up with 10 years on paper when I should have maybe got up to 12mos not a good lawyer and don't fight for you just goes alone with whatever the DA says I got screwed and she won't help me get out of it or help make it right

She was a lifesaver for my circumstances

I was incarcerated in Catoosa County in March 2015 and I had no way of knowing when I would have a bond or how long i would be there. When your in jail it's hard to know what is going on from inside. Know one can tell you anything and there isn't anyway for you to get answers and it's near impossible... to get answers without having someone on the outside digging around in your behalf. My mother was going to hire a attorney for me because I could not have one appointed because I had a co defendant on my case who already had one appointed. Therefore, I had to play the waiting game. Melissa called my mother within a week or so and told her that she took my case and would speak to me when she had the time and received my paperwork. A week seemed like an eternity when I've never been away from my husband or kids for more than a day. I've never been in trouble not been arrested before so, she came to my rescue in a timely manner and from what I was told, fairly quickly as well. With the charges I had, even me not having a record was terrifying for me bexause they weren't small charges for a first time offender. I had 8 counts of felony charges and I wasn't prepared for what I thought I was in for. She knew I had small children and was not a crimanal nor a bad person and did what she could for me reguardless if I wanted to settle for the most just to get home to my kids. She insisted that I let her work with the DA to get what I deserved reguardless of my charges. In two days she cd my plea from 10 years felony probation to 5!! Mind you that I'm 26yrs old. She is a miracle worker in my eyes and had me home within two days of her coming to jail to talk to me and I was home by the weekend! I'll always recommend her as far as my opinion goes and as long as I'm on paper I will have her on standby if I have any problems!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
