This review is based entirely on my personal experience, my understanding, and how the events in my case made me feel. On the day of the most important hearing of my life, Mr. Penland walked away from my case, leaving me with no legal representation, no time to prepare, and no money to hire someon...e else. I had repeatedly told him that my children were depressed, struggling, and having suicidal thoughts, and I felt completely abandoned at the moment I needed an attorney the most. Because I was suddenly alone and terrified, I panicked and agreed to surrender my parental rights. Looking back, this decision changed my children’s lives forever, and I wish I had been supported instead of left to face that moment by myself. What makes this even more devastating is that my understanding was that my children would receive therapy immediately afterward. They never did. There was no counseling, no support, and no intervention for the pain they were in. Less than two months later, my son, Jonathan Arehart, died by suicide. I was not notified by anyone involved in the case. I found out three days later through social media, which was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. After Jonathan passed, I personally requested permission to attend the funeral or to simply say goodbye to my child. From my experience, that request was not supported. Even when legal aid and the police reached out on my behalf, I still was not allowed to see my son one last time. The emotional damage of that will stay with me forever. I am writing this review because I don’t want another parent to go through what I did. My experience left me feeling unheard, unsupported, and completely alone during a critical moment when my children’s mental health was at risk. This is my honest account of what happened, how I understood it, and the lasting impact it has had on me and my family.

My sister has Alzheimer's, and I brought her to live with me. I went to Mr. Penland because I needed permission to sell her house since she had a lifetime estate in the property. I was told I needed to file for Guardianship in order to sell the property. Guardianship was finalized in March of 2025... it is how 5 months later, and Mr. Penland still has not filed the paperwork to sell the property. I will now have to pay another attorney to do the job Mr. Penland was supposed to do. I would not recommend him for any legal matters. I have 10 emails I would be happy to share with you, but the website will not let me post my email address.

I hired Jeremy for a custody modification case. The staff was knowledgeable, responsive, and caring. As for Mr. Penland, he was as passionate as he is knowledgeable. His ability to command a room got me an even better result than I was hoping to get. I'm truly honored to have been in the presence of ...one of the greatest legal minds of this age! Mr. Penland and his team were instrumental and making our family whole. It was a long, complicated process but in the end he got us our desired result. He handled our adoption case with unwavering professionalism and patience.
