About me

My name is William R. Carlisle, Jr., but everyone calls me Billy. I come from a family of many Georgia lawyers, legislators and judges, and am myself a fourth generation Georgia lawyer. I have been in practice since 1996, and have practiced law almost exclusively in the area of debt collection defense and consumer protection since 2008. I specialize in this area as it is generally underserved and misunderstood by the legal community at large and provides many viable options to bankruptcy or throwing yourself at the feet of unmerciful creditors or judges. I love this practice area because I can almost always find some way to make my fees cost efficient and provide a meaningful benefit to the client. Also, I have always loved a good fight and will take on any lawyer or creditor anywhere, at anytime, even if it is outside behind the courthouse. This field also presents an intellectual challenge and an opportunity not only to utilize the laws at our disposal, but to find new and inventive ways to resolve debt problems through "out of the box" thinking, common sense approaches, and understanding the economics, operations and dynamics of the debt collection industry as a whole.

  • John William Nelson

Carlisle. The name is well-known in the debt lawsuit defense community. He is a pioneer in this area, and he knows what he is about. I know Mr. Carlisle because I run into him often in the debt collection defense work I handle. When I first began working in this area, I actually cold-called him at his office and he took the time to speak with a relatively new attorney who showed up unannounced. Since then, I have spoken to him many times when I run into peculiar or unique situations I've never seen before. I have also referred clients to him when I knew my services were not the kind they needed, but Mr. Carlisle and his firm could help them out. Mr. Carlisle knows his stuff, and he will help protect your rights.

  • Kevin Joseph Pratt

I endorse this lawyer. I have known this attorney since about 2001. He is very well respected by his peers, and liked by his clients and the Judges. I endorsed him under litigation because of his knowledge of trial evidence and procedure. His talents are in defending collection cases and bringing actions against debt collectors for violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
