Oscar David Gertsch

Oscar David Gertsch is an attorney in Athens, Georgia practicing primarily in the areas of divorce, family law, and estate planning. He is a 2001 graduate of Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army in the Army’s Quartermaster Corps.

Oscar’s military career includes two overseas assignments to Iraq with the 101St Airborne Division, Air Assault. Oscar obtained the rank of Captain and his military awards include the Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Army Parachutist Badge, and the Army Air Assault Badge.

After his second deployment, Oscar left the Army and enrolled in law school at the Florida State University College of Law, graduating in 2010. Oscar gained experience working at Nexsen Pruet, LLC in Greenville, SC; Cobb Law Group in Thomasville, GA; the Florida Department of Community Affairs and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation in Tallahassee, FL.

Oscar established his law practice in Athens, Georgia where his wife teaches Music Theory at the University of Georgia’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music. His practice is located to serve clients in Clarke, Oconee, Jackson, Barrow, Walton, Morgan, Putnam, Greene, Oglethorpe, Madison, Hart, Franklin, and Hall counties in Northern Georgia.

Oscar is a member of the State Bar of Georgia (Family Law and Young Lawyers Division Sections) and the Western Circuit Bar Association. 

Oscar and his wife, Emily, make their home in Athens with their two children, Charlotte and Owen.
