Biography
Kevin Giese Sweat is a diverse trial lawyer, covering a wide range of criminal and civil cases. Kevin frequently appears on behalf of his clients in the Municipal, State, and Superior Courts of Athens-Clarke and surrounding counties. Kevin’s practice includes effective representation in criminal cases as well as a variety of civil cases, including divorce and custody, personal injury, worker’s compensation, and business litigation.
A member of the firm since 2010, Kevin is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law. During law school, Kevin served as a Student Bar Association Senator, vice president of his class, and worked in the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office as part of the law school’s Prosecutorial Clinic Program. Kevin also is a graduate of the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyer’s Division Leadership Academy, was an invited speaker at a statewide continuing legal education program, and is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.
Kevin was born and raised in Athens and has a background in politics. A cum laude graduate of American University in Washington, D.C., Kevin earned undergraduate degrees in both political science and an interdisciplinary major program – C.L.E.G., which combines studies in communications, law, economics and government. During his time in Washington, D.C., Kevin interned on Capitol Hill for Representative John Barrow (GA) and Senator Bill Nelson (FL). Since his return to Athens, Kevin remains engaged in his community through work on campaigns and with community service organizations.
