Sam is the founding attorney of The DeRocco Law Firm, LLC., where his practice focuses primarily on litigation-based areas, including criminal defense, domestic relations, and personal injury.
Concurrently with his private practice, Sam is the acting Solicitor-General of Jenkins County State Court. Sam was appointed by Governor Brian Kemp in September 2021 and ran unopposed for re-election in 2022.
Sam was also appointed by the Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr as an Associate Special Assistant Attorney General to represent various child welfare agencies in cases of dependency, child support, terminations of parental rights, and child abuse registry appeals throughout Georgia.
Sam also previously clerked for several judges in both Georgia state and superior courts. Particularly, while clerking at the Houston County State Court, Sam advised the Honorable Jason E. Ashford throughout all stages of a pharmaceutical liability case resulting in one of the highest jury verdicts in the Court’s history, which was affirmed on appeal, and is featured nationally in various legal and medical articles. See Pope v. Akorn, Inc., A18A1261 (Ga. App. 2018).
Sam’s experience at all levels of simple and complex litigation allows him to provide his clients with a comprehensive, tactical approach to their cases. Sam has been retained by clients to re-evaluate their litigation strategies; negotiate the resolution of high-stake risks; and step-in to argue and litigate cases, even on short notice.
Sam is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Georgia, Georgia’s trial courts, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the Georgia Supreme Court.
Sam graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies, with dual specialization certificates in Trial Advocacy and Transactional Law. He then graduated from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 2017 with his Juris Doctor.

Mr. Derocco was very professional and communicative throughout the whole process. He advocated very heavily for my case which resulted in a dismissal. I highly recommend hiring Mr. Derocco.
