J. Matthew Anthony

Matt Anthony is a partner at Warner Bates, with over 30 years of experience in divorce and family law and domestic relations litigation. Matt began his career with the firm in 1990, took a brief break from the practice of law to pursue opportunities in the financial services sector where he gained invaluable insight to the benefit of his clients, and established his own domestic relations practice before returning to the firm as a partner in 2005.

Matt has experience in all aspects of domestic relations law, pre-divorce consultation, prenuptial agreements, divorce litigation, custody litigation, paternity, legitimation, mediation, contempt and post-divorce enforcement. His friendly but direct and no-nonsense personality helps clients understand and manage reasonable expectations throughout the divorce process. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association and Charles Weltner Family Inn of Court.

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Matt earned undergraduate and legal degrees at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He and his wife are the parents of four sons and are active members of the Cathedral of St. Philip. They are also actively involved with their children’s schools and extracurricular activities. Matt’s leisure time is filled with attending athletic events, playing golf and exercising.
