About me

I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee.  Prior to going to law school I was a Registered Nurse.  I worked as a Staff Nurse for several years and after obtaining a Master's Degree in Nursing I worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.  I then moved to  New York City, where I lived for six years.  While there I attended and graduated from Fordham University School of Law.  After graduation I took and passed the New York Bar Exam - the first time I took it!  I had my first child during law school and my second child shortly after taking the New York Bar, so after the Bar exam I decided to spend some time at home raising my children.  My family subsequently moved to Atlanta, where I successfully sat for the Georgia Bar Exam.

The first few years of my practice were spent working for medium to large law firms, representing insurance companies in workers compensation cases and trucking litigation.   After a time I decided to start my own practice and I began exclusively representing injured workers.

I find my current practice very fullfilling.  I am grateful to have the opportunity to fight to help people obtain the benefits to which they are entitled.  I have found that my prior career as a nurse helps me tremendously in my practice in many ways: I have a unique insight into the healthcare system.  In addition, I am also particularly skilled in reviewing and interpreting medical records and interacting with doctors and nurses. Most importantly, as a nurse, one of my greatest attributes was (and remains) compassion and empathy, traits with serve me well with my clients, who come to me during profoundly difficult times in their lives.

I am married with three children, ages 17 to 25 years.  We also have two dogs.  We live just outside the Perimeter and are very active in our church.  Our youngest child is very active in sports at her high school, so my husband and I spend a great deal of our free time attending her sporting events.  Our middle child is a student at Georgia State and our oldest child currently lives in Boston.
