Lack of communication and professionalism

I first contacted Ms. Allen in December of 2014. My claim was filed in March of 2015. I was given her information from a friend that used her as an attorney for their disability case. My friend did receive a favorable decision. My friend and I both thought there was a lack of communication from Ms. A...llen. On the day of my hearing in 2018, there were details about my case she did not know and after learning those details she was not confident the decision would be in my favor. I take that means she had not looked at my medical records. During the hearing, the judge said they didn’t have my current medical records. Ms. Allen said she was not able to obtain my records from the county health department I was going to. The judge said she would allow time to submit the records after the hearing, two weeks I believe. I didn’t receive a favorable decision using Ms. Allen’s services. Ms. Allen told me she felt she could not win my case and would NOT file an appeal on my behalf. I had to file the appeal myself and seek another attorney. After getting adequate representation I had another hearing with the same judge in June/July 2020. The Judge said: I could not give you a favorable decision the first time because your previous attorney Ms. Allen did not submit your medical records. (and mentioned she had been given extra time) I got a favorable decision in my disability case using a different attorney. I didn’t receive any funds until late 2021. After receiving the funds a portion was taken out to pay my attorney. The attorney that got my favorable decision was paid but still had the issue of not receiving the remaining funds. I was supposed to have removed Ms. Allen from my disability case when she left me hanging. I wasn’t aware of the process or the need to. I was told Ms. Allen could request funds even if she only made a phone call regarding my case, after explaining all of the above to the office of Congressman David Scott. Ms. Allen requested funds for my case. I feel like she deserves nothing! She couldn’t even submit my medical records but wants to get the MAX allowed for an attorney. I wish I had never had Ms. Allen represent me in my disability case. I would not use any service she provided from my experience. As a person, Ms. Allen was nice and I remember we prayed before my hearing. This review reflects her professionalism.

Disability Claim

I contacted Ms. Allen in 2017 concerning my disability claim. Ms Allen took case and was very professional in assisting me through out the process. Always returned call and took time to explain what was going on. You could not ask for a better Lawyer than Ms. Allen I was approved in December 2018 for... SSD. Thank your Ms. Allen for all your assistance.

medical neglect or malpractice

Went in hospital for lower back fusion surgery, got growing bacterial infection and growing UTI from cathater being left in for four days. Went home after long stay in hospital complained of high fever Dr said it would go away with tyleniol, after days of fevers of 101-104 they said use own judgemen...t about taking her to hospital. It got up to 104.7 we admitted her, they did blood work and called in bacterial disease professional she said u were within hours of dying. Spent four days in hospital the next 21 days going to hospital for infusions no back therapy for months. If we hadn't taken her this would be a different story. Needs back surgery again after 18 months.

Great job!!

Attorney Allen took on my Social Security claim when no one else would and navigated my claim from start to finish flawlessly.

So far she has stayed on track with my disability claim. She has given good advice to me.

She notified me of my court hearing, which rook three years. Then prepared me for the questions that were asked by the Judge. Hearing went smooth.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
