Biography
Jim has practiced family law for over thirty years, having tried divorce and custody cases before judges and juries throughout Georgia. His extensive experience has earned him a reputation as an effective counselor to families throughout metro Atlanta and beyond. Prior to joining Warner, Bates, McGough & McGinnis, Jim was a principal at the family law firm of McGinnis & Chambers, LLC.
He received his bachelor's degree from Auburn University and his law degree from Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law. At the outset of his career, Jim was Assistant District Attorney in Macon, Georgia.
Jim is a frequent lecturer to attorneys and CPA's across the state on a variety of family law topics. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the Georgia State University School of Law, where he taught advanced domestic litigation for 15 years.

Arrogant and disengaged
I hired Mr. McGinnis but was immediately passed down to a second tier attorney. Mr. McGinnis only stepped in occasionally to review my case (at $500 per hour). The entire time I was a number, not a person. They called me by the wrong name, called my children by the wrong names, and were very defensiv...
