For Bankruptcy Matters, There's None Better

When I was referred to Alan last fall, I was in a state of emotional and financial desperation, with my condition getting worse and worse by the day. I had been to 3 or 4 bankruptcy lawyers before Alan, and each time I was sent away dejected as I was told that my case was "way too complicated" or th...at bankruptcy law would do nothing to help my particular situation. I had an obscene and brutal divorce judgment from the New York state courts that took all of my assets and gave them to my ex-wife while sticking me with the entirety (or a least the lion's share) of the marital debt. Furthermore, as one of the victims of the Great Recession, I was unemployed for 14 months, and I had just relocated to Georgia to start a new job. In 2005, the United States Congress amended the federal bankruptcy laws. Through lobbying and financial money-peddling, the banks and the credit card companies they own were able to get our Congressmen and Congresswomen to overhaul the bankruptcy code to make it much more difficult to have credit card debt discharged. This aspect of the the 2005 Bankruptcy Amendments got top billing for obvious reasons. But what a lot of people don't know is that the 2005 Bankruptcy Amendments contain draconian provisions on divorce judgments. Now, state court divorce decrees with their property awards and grants of attorneys' fees would become NON-DISCHARGEABLE debt. In other words, divorce decrees from state court divorce mills would be on a level higher than federal student loans, which ostensibly can be discharged under a showing of "undue burden." Given this background, there were certain aspects of my case that would never go away. But Alan listened very patiently to my story, incredible in its proportions as it was. He was sympathetic and understanding. More importantly, he brought his legal acumen to bear on my problem. One huge aspect of my divorce was heating up. The New York divorce court judge, while forcing me to deed over the marital property to my ex-wife, nonetheless keep me on the mortgage lending documents as the exclusive lender. My ex-wife, despite getting upwards of $4,000 per month in child support, was not paying the mortgages on time. Over a couple of years, she would repeatedly pay the mortgages 30 day, 60 day or 90 days late. Of course, all of the late payments got reported to the credit bureaus in my name. So my credit was destroyed. Worse even still was the fact that at the time I met Alan, the mortgage companies were threatening to sue me in my personal capacity because my ex-wife was not making the mortgage payments and because I was still the guy on the lending documents despite the fact that I owned no underlying property and that the legal title and deed was in my ex-wife's name. If you have read this far, you probably have a sense of how complicated and layered my factual circumstances were. I was completely trapped. New York could not care any less of awful predicament that it put me in. It was done to me purposefully and unethically by a system that has run amok. But Alan entered the scene. I was referred to him after striking out with 3 or 4 bankruptcy lawyers, each of whom were dumfounded by case and would not take up my cause. Alan, however, got me off the mortgage notes. I had to take a Chapter 7 hit, but he got my case through the Northern District of Georgia. He is well-regarded in that court-house, and I could gather from my observations that Alan has the esteem of his colleagues in the bankruptcy bar. I would personally recommend Alan to anyone--without reservation, and without qualification. He's the only attorney that really ever did a damn bit of good for me. I know of what I speak, because I am a lawyer myself. If you have a bankruptcy problem, whether small, difficult or large, Alan is the star you want to hitch your wagon to. Parts of my recommendation may sound corny and hard to believe, but it happened. I am truly grateful to Alan.

Financial Recovery Specialist

For more than 20 years, I have depended upon Alan to provide my clients with competent legal advice, counsel and professional support to resolve their financial crises and recovery. When my business failed during the 2008-2009 worldwide financial crash, Alan provided me with invaluable legal counsel... and support dealing with creditors in a sincere effort to recover from temporary insolvency and avoid bankruptcy. When our efforts were derailed by one uncooperative creditor, Alan Seitman shepherded me through the Chapter 7 proceedings, helped me regain my self esteem and worked out the plan that is now financial recovery.

Professional and Knowledgeable

I recently went through a chapter 7 bankruptcy and interviewed a couple of attorneys. I had heard horrible tales of many of the "lawyer Mills" that do that type of work. I was referred to Alan and after the first meeting I knew I was in the right place. I felt he was knowledgeable about the process a...nd he prepared me for every senario that could come up. I got the courthouse early so I would know what to expect and after watching all these poor people that were meeting their attorneys for the first time and many times the bankruptcy service they had used had hired a attorney that just sits at the courthouse to handle these cases and the people had never even spoke to them much less met them. Alan made himself availble through the entire process and always was available to answer my questions and always returned my calls promptly! He showed up in a suit the day of court and I have to say he was the only attorney that I saw in my trustee room that had that refined, respectful look and in tuen we werer treated the same way. During my hearing he had actually leaned enough about me over the previous months that he was able to help me answer the questions for the trustee and help me understand what she was asking. I can't say enough good about this man and the representation that I received... I would recommend him to anyone that is faced with this experience. He was a litte more than some of the other attorneys that I interviewed but WELL worth it. I was more prepared for the process than any other person I saw and I attribute that to Alan for taking the time in the beginning to answer all my questions. I have since sent several people to him and will continue to do so.
