Kim Johnson graduated magna cum laude with a B. Mus. from DePauw University in 1991. She spent four years as a public school orchestra teacher before attending the University of Alabama School of Law. She received her J.D., summa cum laude, in 1998. While in law school, Kim served on the Boards of the Alabama Law Review and the Moot Court Competition.
Kim started her legal career as a law clerk to two different federal judges, at the trial and appellate levels. She served with the Hon. W. Harold Albritton III, (now Senior) United States District Judge for the Middle District of Alabama, and with the Hon. Emmett R. Cox, (now Senior) United States Circuit Judge for the Eleventh Circuit.
She spent her first several years in private practice as a litigator at a national defense firm, before switching to the plaintiff’s side. She has thus worked on major cases from both the defense and plaintiff’s side.
Kim joined Pope McGlamry in 2011. Her practice focuses on representing plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, products and pharmaceutical liability, qui tam health care fraud, and mass torts actions.
Kim is an active musician in the Atlanta community, playing viola in the Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra and violin and viola in chamber groups, most notably with the Atlanta Wine Ensemble – a group of lawyer-musician-friends. In her spare time, Kim enjoys attending Braves games with her Dad – a tradition started back in the 1980s.
