About me

I'm a former musician and music journalist turned entertainment attorney. I have my own entertainment and intellectual property law firm, The Seay Firm LLC (, where I mostly work with artists and arts-related organizations. I also work with non-arts-related (but usually creative-minded) small businesses. Follow me on Twitter: @TheSeayFirmLLC. I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia with my lovely wife, Jennifer, who is more of a rock star than I could ever be. I have a dog, Harold, who by all accounts is a good boy.

  • Michelle Esther Gilzenrat Davis

I knew John first as a musician and music journalist, and I have been so impressed and inspired by his career trajectory. I have had the pleasure of hosting him on a number of entertainment law panels, and his insight is always invaluable. He is one of the few attorneys who can unpack the intricacies of digital revenue streams in a way that any layperson can understand. A smart, funny and friendly attorney who knows this business inside and out.
