Whitney is the absolute best. I researched divorce attorneys before I hired her, I interviewed a few others. I knew from the initial discussion I had with her that she was the one. Unlike some attorneys, Whitney follows through. I have worked with attorneys on other things where they say they are... going to do something and they never get it done. When Whitney says she is going to do something by a certain date, consider it done. I never worry about her doing what she says she is going to do. She is very reasonable and realistic, she doesn't promise you things she can't deliver. If she sees an issue that could hinder your case, she is honest about it and gives great counsel on whatever that issue is. She is tenacious as hell, and her tenacity is level headed. She is aggressive but she doesn't lose her cool. Metaphorically speaking she can tell someone to go to hell and actually make them look forward to it (she never told anyone to go to hell, this is just a metaphor). She got me a great divorce settlement and I am continuing to work with her on some residual issues, one of which is very difficult but she is sticking it out. We are dealing with a spyware company that has and is making her job very difficult, but she has more than one way to skin a cat and I know that we will get to the bottom of it. Lastly, she is the most connected person I have ever met. She doesn't just address the issues she is helping you with, if she identifies a need you may have that requires the assistance of a different professional, she is very good about referring you to the right person. She has referred me to several different professionals for various services and everyone she has referred me to has been just as great as she is. I trust Whitney fully with any issue I have. If she does not know the answer or if it is not in her specialty she will find an answer or a person who can help. And prompt: omg, if she says she is going to call you at 3:00, you can count on your phone ringing at 3:00 ON THE DOT. BEST. ATTORNEY. EVER.

"One Call That's All!"

I am in the midst of an extremely cruel and complex divorce that spans immigration, family, custody, and child support, division of property, and criminal law all at once! My case is a serious one and i am faced with much to lose, so hiring a smart attorney increases your chances of a fair trial. Whi...tney Mauk brings a much needed touch of sophistication and grace to the family court "mud throwing" arena. In short, she is the opposite of a greasy attorney. It is an honor to be represented by an attorney with integrity, and I believe this resonates well with the various authorities of the court. You can take pride that no matter what the outcome or verdict, she will lead you through it with your dignity intact. She has acted as a true professional and moral center in an otherwise monstrous and vindictive divorce. I highly recommend hiring her if you need to navigate a complex and messy divorce, and you need someone to guide you down the right path to a fair trial. She may give you homework assignments that require a little groundwork on the part of the client, but rest assured she'll ensure you achieve the best possible outcome no matter how dismal or nasty the circumstances may be for your situation.

Solid representation despite our adversary

Although my case is ongoing (since July 2015) the work performed thus far warrants a positive review. Ms. Mauk was recommended by an attorney I worked with in my professional career because he doesn't handle family law or divorce issues. In the early stages Ms. Mauk was quick to answer questions ab...out my case, and when I was the one surprisingly served with an action before the court she was quick to provide a case strategy. (If I would have hired Ms. Mauk PRIOR to my divorce instead of years later trying to work through correction of a poorly written divorce decree I would be much better off today.) My former spouse filed a declaratory judgment action asking the court to “re-write” a section of our mediated divorce decree. The plaintiff sought, “relief from uncertainty” as to what was owed toward joint and several marital debt. This was despite an agreement of 50% each party. (It’s complicated.) Throughout the case Ms. Mauk has educated me on matters of law that were unclear to me and reassured me our strategy would ultimately prove better than the approach I might have preferred. She listened to my concerns and we worked as a team, within the parameters of the law, to move forward with defense motions, mediation, and offers of settlement. Unfortunately, when dealing with an adverse party who has little regard for the law a case cannot be forced to conclusion. The plaintiff, my ex-spouse who originally filed the declaratory judgment action, has now dropped the case presumably after realizing there was no way to “win” it. Our case will now sit dormant for a little while and I will continue to sleep well knowing I have a very competent representative on my side. At some point in the future the case may move forward, but it will be on different terms as I’ll be the plaintiff seeking equity in the 50% that was agreed to in the original divorce decree. During the case Ms. Mauk was very upfront about case strategy, costs involved, and her recommendations on moving forward. I never felt as though Ms. Mauk was looking for ways to increase billing against the held retainer. Some attorneys have a reputation for representing themselves BEFORE their clients. Although good representation comes at a price poor representation is much more expensive in the long run. I will highly recommend Ms. Mauk to any friends or family who find themselves in need of a family law attorney. I’d also encourage those who find themselves in the unfortunate situation where divorce is the only option to please use a good attorney as it will save you trouble and expense in the long run.
