About Peter

Learn Peter’s areas of practice.

Pete Dosik is a leader in Atlanta’s franchise law community as well as a sophisticated business law generalist. He is committed to providing clients with high-value, efficient, and practical legal service at a reasonable cost.

Drawing on his experience as in-house counsel at Church’s Chicken® (1700+ units in 23 countries, including 250+ company-owned restaurants) and Starwood Hotels (owner and franchisor of iconic hotel brands such as Westin® and Sheraton®), Pete develops in-depth knowledge of his clients’ businesses and emphasizes practical methods to protect his clients while helping them achieve their goals.

In the franchising arena, Pete advises franchisors on how to establish, operate, and grow “best-in-class” franchise systems. He prepares Franchise Disclosure Documents and franchising agreements that incorporate best practices in franchising. He advises on domestic and international franchising, complying with federal and state franchise laws and regulations, dealing with franchisees, enforcing brand standards, terminating non-compliant franchisees, and resolving disputes.

When representing franchisees, Pete uses his knowledge and experience to efficiently assist franchisees in understanding FDDs, negotiating franchise agreements, and achieving business success with their franchise concept.

In addition to franchising and distribution, Pete handles various business transactions, including company formation, finance, buying or selling a business, real estate, employment agreements, technology agreements, supply chain matters, and other commercial contracts.

Pete began practicing law in 1997 after graduating from Duke University law school. He began his career at one of Atlanta’s most prestigious law firms, where he focused on debt finance and general business transactions.

Franchise Consultant Who Highly Recommends Peter
I have worked with literally hundreds of franchise attorneys, Peters work is always consistent, solid legal work and he is one of the few attorneys who knows how to develop and manage a good business relationship. I would highly recommend Peter to anyone needing franchise guidance.

Excellent Franchise Attorney
Peter helped me to purchase a Cookie Advantage Franchise for the Atlanta Market. Owning a business before that was not a franchise Peter was very insightful and experienced in the negotiations helping me to understand what could and could not be changed in the FDD. Without Peter's help tens of thousands of dollars annually would have been left on the table. Peter has been timely with all the legal work his down to date I intend to use him again should I need a business attorney in the future.

A Great Franchise Attorney
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Pete over the past six years in a variety of capacities and feel fortunate to have had the benefit of his advice and counsel. In an increasingly complex, deal oriented environment Pete’s in depth legal knowledge is invaluable in achieving a successful result. He finds ways to get things done and does so in a timely and practical manner. I have complete confidence in his ability to handle all aspects of our franchise business ranging from disclosure requirements through new store and territory sales, acquisitions and transfers. Pete is a great resource for our company and our franchisees and we are lucky to have him on our team.
