Murder Conviction Reversed
Oct 20, 2013OUTCOME: From conviction to acquittal
My client was convicted of murdering a man by shooting him in the head at close range. At the motion for new trial hearing, I established through the testimony of expert witnesses that the man had shot ... himself. I then preserved the win against the State's appeal to the Supreme Court of Georgia. After that, I successfully argued to the trial judge that the women should be acquitted. When the State appealed from the acquittal, I then made a novel argument to the Supreme Court of Georgia that the case should be dismissed. The oral argument went so poorly for the prosecutor that he vowed to never argue at the Supreme Court of Georgia again.
