Biography
As a Family Law Attorney in Atlanta, Teola Hawes handles cases on behalf of families with legal matters involving divorce, child support, child custody & visitation, equitable distribution, alimony, contempt issues, and more. Originally from Maryland, Teola received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Clark Atlanta University and her Juris Doctor degree from John Marshall Law School. While attending John Marshall Law School, she worked for a law clinic assisting low-income clients in family law matters. This was the most satisfying experience of her time in Law School. The work in the clinic allowed her to gain an insight into problems affecting individuals with limited funds and provided her with the practical experience to solve these issues.
Teola has volunteered with The DC Volunteer Lawyers Project, nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide high-quality, free legal services to low-income District of Columbia residents in family law cases. As a volunteer lawyer, Teola has provided pro bono legal representation to: survivors of domestic violence in civil protection order, custody, visitation, divorce, child support as well as children in high-conflict custody cases. She is also a member of the family law section of the Georgia Bar.
