STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN!

My divorce was simple. No property, no children, married for a little bit over year and separated for most of it due to a military deployment. In addition, there was evidence of my spouse being involved romantically with another person during our marriage. Trey was never available, nor did he kee...p me informed of the progress or lack there of of my case. He managed to accomplish absolutely NOTHING with the five thousand dollars I had paid him leading to the court date. I flew in for my court hearing and Trey was NOWHERE to be found. I went before the judge with no representation and was rail rail roaded. I was a t a loss for words when Trey's firm reached out to me in an effort collect more in bogus charges. I wish I would've reached it and networked to find a lawyer instead on being taken advantage of by his firm. I shared this experience with a family friend who was a lawyer and he was blown away by the way my case was handled. It was only when I threatened to contact The American Bar Association that he reached out to me and agreed that i didn't owe him any further payment. This was my first experience with a lawyer and made the mistake of being naive enough to buy into his speach on our initial consultation. I've since then worked with another attorney for business matters and the difference between a professional honest lawyer and Trey Sauls could not be more drastic.

DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE - DO NOT HIRE THIS ATTORNEY

I retained Trey Sauls to handle my custody case in July 2014. At the initial consultation Mr. Sauls appeared to be knowledgeable, professional and his hourly rate was reasonable enough, $350/hour. Upon commencing representation, Mr. Sauls did not demonstrate any competency at all. E.g. I asked him ...to obtain certain reports for my case and he told me that it is impossible; while the other attorney was able to get these reports within one week. Mr. Sauls advised me to take some testing for the case for which I spent additional $1500, and as I found later it was absolutely not necessary. Mr. Sauls did not complete required court documentations within reasonable time, however was generous in hourly billing. Mr. Sauls was invoicing hours in access of what was actually spent and regardless of whether anything was done on the case or not, i.e. we attended the court were we spent 2 hours from the beginning to the end with the hearing of only 10 minutes, and he billed me 5 hours. Also, Mr. Sauls continued billing me even after he stopped working on my case. The billing invoices did not come when the retainer was about to exhaust as it states in the contract. So, when I eventually get the invoice it was already way beyond my control. As a result, I end up with the bill of nearly $17,000 in 2.5 months, just to transfer the case from one county court to the other. Eventually, I have filed for fees arbitration with State Bar of Georgia. I do not recommend Mr. Saul. He did not have the strategy for the case and did not deliver the quality work.

Inappropriate billing practices!

Paid him thousands as a retainer for a simple case and we both agreed at initial consultation that he would see my case to completion for that amount. Sat on it for over a year and did absolutely nothing but make a few phone calls. One of these calls he claimed on his billing invoice was a 2 hour cal...l with "client". Per my phone records the call lasted 7 minutes. Then when the day of court finally arrived he demanded thousands more to represent me after I had already paid thousands for absolutely nothing. I reminded him of our prior agreement verbally but he had no interest in honoring this agreement since he knew he had me backed into a corner at the courthouse. I had no more money to give him and ultimately I represented myself that day in court. One month later I get dummy invoices demanding hundreds of dollars his firm claims I still owe! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! Look elsewhere for proper representation.
