My divorce

My experience with Parri and Abbott and Abbott P.C. was excellent. My divorce was very stressful and parri was always more than willing to talk me through what I thought were major emergencies. I am very thankful for her attention to detail. Abbott and Abbott helped me get custody of my three chil...dren. As everyone knows, it is very difficult for a father to get custody. Abbott and Abbott handled my case with expertise. Extremely happy with my choice.

Do your homework!

I hired Abbott & Abbott to assists with my custody case. I had used him in the past and had thought he would be just as good the 2nd time around. I was wrong!!! He knew I would pay and therefore continued to drag out the case. I paid him $12,000 before we even made it into the courtroom. His s...taff in incompetent and he is unreachable or worse puts you on with his wife Parri Abbott who is well, I’ll be nice! I asked BJ several times to take steps in my case that I knew would bring the other side to the table to start negotiations and bring the case to an end and he continued to put me off and take my money. He was NEVER in court, ALWAYS had a conflict that no one was aware of until the last minute. He is ALWAYS filing Leave of Court at the last minute and tries to avoid appearing in the Courtroom so that he can drag out the case to get more $. He puts on a great show at the consultations, after that it’s downhill. He has a very high turnover with his office staff! There are so many other wonderful attorneys that care about you as a client so please avoid Abbott & Abbott and do your homework!

Want to feel used, overcharged, accosted, and then ignored, pick this firm.

When I first went to get my free consultation (Sep 2012) with Ms. Abbott, I was absolutely excited. She was engaged, knowledgable, understanding, and didn't watch the clock at all, and at the end I immediately decided to hire her and pay the 5k retainer. She was to domestic my divorce case to GA fr...om Ohio and then we were to alter the federal tax issue where a previous majistrates decision gave my ex husband the ability to claim her every year no exception. She told me that GA does not usually get involved with tax issues as federal guidelines will supercede those, so why she just didn't say go ahead and claim her and see what happens instead of taking my money is beyond me. I ended up paying $7000+ and taking her advice on we should change it and after we did mediation w/ my ex in regards to the federal tax issue he agreed then decided he didn't want to agree and I had to go to court to enforce. Well they needed more money for that so I gave more to get the case settled when really I just wanted to leave it as it was at this point. So we go to court, enforce order, and ordered my ex to pay $1000 for attorney fees. I emailed after asking if the case was over now and was told not until my ex pays, so after many months of zero communication all of a sudden I recieved an invoice from them, which led me to reach out and see what the status was, I thought I will close my account with them, everything is filed, and refund any remaining retainer and just wait on my ex to pay the $1000. So after about a week after I finally talk to her paralegal, omg, she was the worst, rude, disrespectful, & hostel like I had done something wrong plus she had little knowledge of my case, yet told me the reason she hasn't reached out was to save me money, didn't see a reason to talk to me as my ex hadn't paid. I asked can you please just send me the remaining retainer and I was again rudely informed they do not refund retainer It's there for me to use in the future, like I'd hire them again after this and I was like how are you saving me money if you keep it anyways? So I then ask, wait this is a judges court order for him to pay, and he's ignored it how does that happen without him getting something sent to him, jail, or something?? She told me I would have to pay more money to them if I want them to go back to court to get the atty fees that were awarded for me, I said you can't use some of the retainer left to send him (my ex) an email and ask? Which she finally did, and he has paid $700 of the $1000 and I've never heard anything since this. I also sent an email to Parri only and I asked not to be contacted by that particular paralegal could you have someone else work with me based on my horrible experience with her. So what did she do? She had the SAME paralegal call/email me to set up an appt where she could talk to me about what happened. I had specifically asked please do not share the email I wrote to Parri to her and what did Parri do? Sent it right to her where the paralegal in turn responded to me from the very email where I had talked about her. So how uncomfortable and unprofessional was this? I emailed her asking why would you show her my email to you, is there no discretion or privacy? She never responded and to me that translates to she just didn't care and at this point she had her money. I just felt used, overcharged and then just ignored.
