Daniel Horne Petrey

Daniel H. Petrey failed to answer the emails sent to him or the many phone calls I made to him on behalf of my daughter in prison for years. Mr. Daniel H. Petrey failed to investigate new evidence as he said he would and was totally oblivious to the case, timeframes for filings, totally unconcerned w...ith my daughter’s innocence and the forced Allen Charge use by the Superior Court Judge to falsely convict her. Mr. Petrey presented my daughters former paid attorney as the only non creditable witness for Motion for New Trial which was a total disaster. Mr. Petrey never had a lawyer/client consultation with my daughter upon receiving her case nor during the years handling her case. Never made a phone call to her in prison or sent her any correspondence. I and my husband went to his office to see him since Mr. Petty fail to answer my phone call and emails and responded to my daughter Aimee’s many letters. Mr. Petrey acknowledged he received letters from Aimee but that was it. When meeting him for the first time, was impatient, totally distanced from the conversation unable to answer my questions or say what he has investigated or whether he has questioned any of the prosecution witnesses. Finally Mr. Petrey admitted he had not interviewed any of the prosecutors witnesses. He then said he would conduct an investigation. I called to follow up on the status of the investigation with Mr. Petrey who never answered my calls or emails. The end result Motion for New Trial failed. The Appeal to Supreme Court document justification was written poorly by defense attorney Mr. Petrey and therefore failed in Appellate Division Court. My daughter Aimee and I never heard from Mr. Petrey or the public defenders office again. These series of events mentioned occurred over a two year period of time concerning Mr. Daniel H. Petrey, Dekalb County Public Defender Attorney. My daughter Aimee remains hopeful to get a new trial presenting new evidence to prove her innocence of a crime she did not commit. Justice matters.
