Patricia R. Stout

Patricia R. Stout is a graduate of the class of 1982 of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. After graduating from the University of Florida and becoming a member of the Florida Bar, Ms. Stout entered active duty in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps (JAGC). During her seven years as a JAGC Officer, Captain Stout was a Trial Defense Service Attorney in the 1st Calvary Division at Fort Hood, Texas. She also headed up the Third Corp. Headquarters Legal Assistance Office. Following her tour at Fort Hood, Texas, Captain Stout moved to Atlanta, Georgia to be the Staff Judge Advocate for the 2nd Recruiting Brigade at Fort Gillem, Georgia where she was the primary staff attorney fro a Brigade that covered eight states and Puerto Rico. After her tour with the 2nd Recruiting Bde, Captain Stout was reassigned to the Headquarters JAGC, Fort McPherson where she was the Chief of Legal Assistance for eighteen months. As the Chief of Administrative Law Major Stout was the primary legal advisor to the Headquarters Command and Commanding General of Fort McPherson for garrison legal issues. Ms. Stout left the Army in 1989 for a position with the United States Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Georgia (USAO, NDGA). As an Assistant United States Attorney, Ms. Stout represented federal agencies in the Northern District of Georgia in areas of discrimination, real estate, tort, medical malpractice, social security claims, employment law and environmental law. During her time with the USAO, NDGA, Ms. Stout taught numerous CLE courses on issues of employment law and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Ms. Stout was selected by the Department of Justice to be an Assistant Director at the Department of Justice's National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina where her duties included teaching courses in trial advocacy, Alternative Dispute Resolution and employment law to other Assistant United States Attorneys. Ms. Stout was also detailed to the Attorney General's Office in Washington, D.C. to assist in creating the Justice Department's Office of Alternative Dispute Resolution. Ms. Stout's duties included the mission of training Assistant United States Attorneys in ADR and assisting in drafting the Department's ADR procedures. After 15 years of federal service which included substantial travel and relocations, Ms. Stout decided she wanted to settle in a smaller community to practice law. Ms. Stout left the United States Attorney's Office in 2003 to open her law office in Covington Georgia where she handles Bankruptcy, Family Law, Real Estate, Wills, Divorce, and Civil Litigation.
