My fiance met Attorney R. Winfrey in Newton County jail where he was told he could get his sentence reduced. He had his probation revoked (2 years to RSAT program). The attorney told him, he could get his time reduced to around 8 months so he asked me to contact the attorney to get things started. He... told me from the very first conversation that his fee was $1500. I am pregnant with twins, have 3 children in the home, and with my fiance being in jail carrying the weight of bills and our home on my own. I let him know that I could not afford it up front and he said he DOES NOT accept payment plans for probabtion cases due to how fast they move. He said he would allow me to pay a down payment and then pay off the rest over my next pay periods but he would not begin working on the case until the entire fee was paid off. Weeks went by and I was unable to pay off the fee because I simply couldn't afford it. The down payment was $970.00. The attorney was VERY available (texts, calls, meeting) to collect the money but after that he would never return my calls or texts and when he did he was always "out of town." He never did anything for my fiance because he did not get the rest of the fee. My fiance was transferred to a prison in Jackson, GA and he did not even know (which makes sense since he never started on his case!). When I brought it up to him, he had to ask me what his sentence and charge was! From that point I realized we would not need his services and asked for my down payment back. He has refused and stated that he believes he earned the money...how? By literally doing nothing. My household is suffering, behind on bills and worse with twins due any day now. I have had to contact the GA Bar and Consumer Assistance Program to file paper work to try to get my down payment back. The whole ordeal with this lawyer has been sooo stressful and sickeningly unfair. I have every text saved from our first conversation onward that supports what I am saying and we never signed any type of contract or agreement...not one....not even with my fiance. I have literally been begging for my money back and he simply refuses or ignores me.

My husband and I obtained Mr Winfrey to represent us in court. We EACH were facing 3 felony charges...our first time ever even being arrested! ! Mr Winfrey is not only professional, articulate, and knowledgeable, but he is a man of God that also offered words of encouragement and encouraged us to ne...ver loose faith! Mr. Reginald is a must when it comes to a lawyer. I'm extremely glad that he was appointed to me for free and he still helped me without. That just shows you how great of a person he is, he got my case dismissed from 2yrs ago that they had no evidence but we still had to go to court forand he also go...t my warrant dismissed. He is such a life saver and i coyld never thank him enough and i hope God continues to bless him and his work. Thanks Again! !
