Michael Cogen Cerrati

Michael Cerrati has over eight years of experience in litigation, with a special emphasis on intellectual property and business disputes, in state and federal courts in South Carolina and California.  He has handled all aspects of litigation, from trademark and copyright litigation in federal court to successfully representing corporations, large commercial lenders and regional banks in contentious litigation proceedings in state court.  In addition, Michael routinely represents trademark clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, as well as in domain name disputes in a variety of forums.

Michael’s litigation experience allows him to effectively counsel clients on complex business decisions and guide them through transactions with an emphasis on minimizing future conflicts.  In addition to general business litigation, he has significant experience in prosecuting, defending, drafting and negotiating non-compete and confidentiality provisions in business contracts so that the trade secrets, methods, systems, products, and intellectual property developed and created over the course of the relationship are adequately protected with the ownership rights clearly defined.
