Elizabeth Hyatt is a native of Lancaster, growing up in the Buford community. She is an attorney and the owner of Hyatt Law, LLC, and The Family Center at Judiciary Square, a supervised visitation and mediation center. She also serves as Chief Municipal Judge for the City of Lancaster. Elizabeth obtained her undergraduate degree in Special Education from Converse College and went on to earn her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Her background in education has given her a unique perspective on legal issues, especially those surrounding children. Prior to opening her law firm, Elizabeth worked as a law clerk to The Honorable William M. Catoe, Jr., Federal Magistrate, and Circuit Judge Tom J. Ervin. She was a staff attorney for the South Carolina Supreme Court and served in the Office of General Counsel for the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.
Elizabeth currently practices primarily in the Family Court area, handling divorces, custody and visitation, child support, and adoptions, as well as other issues pending in family court. She is a certified mediator and mediates family court cases all over the state.
Elizabeth is an active member of the community, she is a member and past president of the Lancaster County Bar Association and is on the Board of Governors for the South Carolina Association of Justice. She has been recognized as a “Legal Elite” in the area of Education Law. Elizabeth currently serves on the boards of the Lancaster Rotary Club, Lancaster County Partners for Youth, and the Katawba Valley Land Trust. She is a lifelong member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church and currently serves as the Administrative Council Chair. Elizabeth is married and has a blended family of five remarkable young men.

Elizabeth helped me keep my son
Elizabeth and her team saved my child for me. Custody was my biggest concern and she was able to make sure that I could protect my son from a bad situation. She was kind and honest, and fought for us. I would highly recommend.
