As a former prosecutor I have handled nearly 5,000 criminal cases ranging from Shoplifting to Murder. I have extensive trial experience having tried nearly 40 violent criminal jury trials over the past 11 years. I know how the system works and I know how the prosecution thinks. I was a strong advocate for victims when I was a prosecutor and I am just as strong an advocate for my clients who have been charged with a crime. I am a problem solver and want to help you with your legal problem.
When you are charged with a crime, it can be a scary time. Your freedom can be at stake and much more. You will be scared, worried, and just plain stressed. That is where my experience and guidance can come to the rescue. I see my job as that of a problem solver. I will take on the case and take on the system. I will fight side by side with you to make sure that you do not become a statistic. At The Justis Law Firm, every client is treated with respect and every client gets personl attention. I have a saying, "Delivering Justice One Client at a Time" and I really do my best to live up to that motto.
When you become a client, you will get the same high level of treatment and attention that I give to all of my clients. I make a promise to be available for questions and strive to communicate on a regular basis with my clients. I take pride in doing a good job and want to work hard for you and get you the best possible result.
A native of New Jersey, I attended The Citadel, graduating in 1990 with a Business Administration Degree. After working in the corporate world for 14 years I decided that was not for me. I wanted to work in a job where I could help other people. I attended law school and obtained my law degree. I started interning for the 1st Circuit Solicitor's Office while I was in law school. Being able to get some real experience working alongside of seasoned prosecutors allowed me to learn the ropes and prepare myself for life after law school. I graduated in 2007 from The Charleston School of Law and earned the Arthur G. Howe Trial Advocacy Award at graduation. I took and passed the Bar Exm and began an 11 year stint as a criminal prosecutor.
As a prosecutor I handled over 5,000 criminal cases including every type of crime imaginable. From high-profile murder cases to run of the mill shoplifting cases, I honed my trial skills. I also learned how the criminal justice system works. I saw how important it was for a criminal defendant to have good representation. I decided I wanted to do everything I could to make sure the system was fair for all people, not just those who had money or connections.
I am an Eagle Scout and a current Scoutmaster for a Boy Scout troop in Summerville where I reside with my wife, son, and pet German Shepherd. I am an avid hiker and recently completed a nearly 2,200 mile thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail before opening my law practice. The dedication, knowledge, and persistence that I used to hike from Georgia to Maine in the winter and spring is the same type of determination I will bring to your case. I do not back down from a challenge.
