Mary Ann Hall is a founding attorney at Hall & Means, LLC and one of Charleston's most experienced family law advocates. She has spent more than three decades fighting for her clients and their rights in divorce, custody, alimony, equitable distribution, and the financial decisions that come with the end of a marriage. Her strategic approach and courtroom experience give clients confident, thoroughly prepared representation when the stakes are highest.
Mary Ann earned her Juris Doctor from Albany Law School in 1993 and her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from SUNY Albany. Before law school, she trained and worked as a New York–licensed veterinary technician, including a stretch in biomedical research at The Rockefeller University and Cornell Medical College in New York City. She relocated to Charleston in 1994 and has practiced South Carolina family law ever since — first as a solo practitioner, then as an attorney at Rosen, Rosen & Hagood, and in 2016 as a founding partner of Hall & Means, LLC. She remains forever grateful to her close friends and legal mentors Susan K. Dunn and Margaret D. Fabri, who guided her career.
Mary Ann is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the State of South Carolina. She is a past Director of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, a member of the Animal Law Committee of the South Carolina Bar, and serves on the Board of Directors of Origin, Inc., a nonprofit serving housing and mental-health needs.
Outside the practice, Mary Ann spends a substantial portion of her leisure time training and competing with her Weimaraners — bred under the Hallmar Weimaraners name — in conformation, hunting, retrieving, tracking, and obedience. She also enjoys opera and reading.
